Robert Crumb Whiteman Meets Bigfoot Unpublished Production Illustration Original Art (1977).
A cathartic job of imaginary autobiography for Underground Comix trailblazer Crumb, the 1971 story "Whiteman meets Bigfoot" (Home Grown Funnies #1) finds a middle-class family man abducted by a female Sasquatch. The human had originated as a caricature of Crumb's father, then evolved into a figure more like Crumb himself. Interest mounted with the possibility of a motion-picture adaptation, which led to a screenplay and a variety of production drawings, such as this example. No such film resulted, after all, but the project generated a wealth of striking images. This piece is in ink on vellum, with an image area of approximately 8.75" x 10". Excellent condition.
